Where can I get the CORRECT u-joints for the front CV? The ones with the zerk fitting on the cross WILL NOT fit. The zerk gets in the way on the U joint that gets bolted to the t-case. Yes, I tried it both ways.
This is for my 88 FSJ, with a 229 t-case. Thanks!

Remove zerk fitting and replace with a flush fitting. You'll need a needle to grease the u-joint but it will work.

i run the spicer sealed joints. They hold up real well for me. The u-joints you buy usually come with a flat grease fitting though.

I tried that. The flush fitting from the old u joint cap was too small. I guess I need to find a different fitting. :-/
It's in there right now without the fitting, so it's flung some grease out. I guess I'll steer clear of any water crossings for a while. It's a messy job that I don't want to have to do anytime soon again. Blah. Although I will say that it's easier than getting the QT front driveshaft off!

Stop by NAPA, they should have a large selection of flush fittings, to pick from.

Second on NAPA. I went to a NAPA a while back and they had everything I needed.
