GW Water Pump Install Help

I am replacing the water pump at the moment, and question the torque specs from my manuals. Says 48 lbs. for the water pump to timing cover, and 28 lbs. for the larger bolts that go through to the block. In practice it really seems like I will strip the timing cover with anything more than 25 lbs. Anyone have any insight? It just started raining and and i really want to get this thing sewn back up.

Look at your manual again.

The spec is 48 inch-pounds. That's a lot different than 48 foot-pounds. Well, 12 times different ;)

The 5 N-m for the timing cover bolts, and 38 N-m for block bolts should have been a tip-off. I guess we're used to standard measurements and not metric smile.gif
