My J10 (360) needs new tires and I came across a set of as new 33" today. The question is - are these a little large as far as performancw is concerned, the truck is used as a daily driver and not for towing. I've checked the gear ratio by turning the driveshaft and it appears to be 2.5-2.75. Thanks in advance.

You've got 2.73 gears. Not real great with stock tires in my opinion. You don't want to run tires that big with those gears, it'll be a pain trying to take off. Plus those tires'll be pretty tight without at least a body lift. Not saying you can't do it, I just wouldn't. smile.gif

Thanks, that answers that one. I am installing a lift so there is no problem with that aspect, however if I was to lower the ratios to approx. 3.50 would you have any likely condidates as to donors for the front and rear gear(I realize that they are different) or should I bite the bullet and go for new.
If your springs are good and you don't go too wide a tire 33's are fine. I'm running 33x9.5's on one truck and 32's on another BUT as Cecil mentioned you really don't want that big of tire w/2.73 gears. I'm happy with mine but I'm running stock 4.09 gears.
