Well the name Timex is stuck and I figured the last thread I rambled on with wouldn't be a good 'official build' thread.

I am trying over the next 8 weeks to get it ready for the annual FJOA campout. I basically have everything I Need short of lift componants and wheel and tires.

Bought axles this weekend and think I got a pretty good deal:

I paid $600 for the following:

D-44 front... wanted a 60 but for the $$ I'll make it last a while. It's 8 lug driver drop (ford low pinion) with the huge 2 piston caliper brakes. Already has 5.38 gears (exactly what I want) and will get a mini spool for the time being.

D-60 rear (also ford) with 5.38's and welded diff. Good $$ for these huh?

Hope to this week get the bed off and t-176 out so we can get the 727 in.

Then it is just a matter of flipping the rear shackle and putting the axles in.

Going with 38" tires

Will update progress as it happens.

Made a little more progress today. Can't really see it but cleaned up and painted the front inner fenders and as much under the hood aspossible without removing the engine. Also did a lot of the front end of the frame.
Here's a few shots with the valance and grill actually on it. I could bolt it on now but I need to finish up the cab and hood before I bolt it all back together. The front fenders are all but done. Bascially just have a couple spots to touch up on them but I will probably do that once they're on the truck.
I have axles now (see the sig) but found the front end today to need gears...it has the ratio I want but they are tore all to hell. SO that's a little bit of a setback. Rear looked real good inside.
We'll have to inboard the springs under the frame and the front will be SOA. In actuality I will not have to 'purchase' a lift which of course that money saved will be blown on the front axle gears and spool.
Got a lot left to do but there's a fair chance I can at least have it at the scramble...if not on the trails too.

Well this was a week of loss :D

Lost the T-176 tranny...already have a buyer for it. Lost the 208 t-case in the process BUT it's sitting behind the 727 now. Just need a flexplate, shifter and tv/kickdown linkage and I can put it all in.

And we lost the bed today. Going to inboard the springs and shorten the wheelbase as much as possilbe...get it down to 120" or less if we can (shooting for 110"). Going to 'lose' the doors and rear glass next. Shouldn't be losing anything after that.

Also the hood and cowl area are done paint wise. Now I have to borrow a pressure washer and clean the whole truck underneath. I've looked like a gorilla darn near every night this week!

Here's the pics...looks kinda puny but that will change in the next month or 2.

Got some more stuff done. Pretty much anything and everything that is not staying on the truck is now off.

A friend of mine talked me in to keeping the doors BUT we cut the upper frames off and removed ALL the window components...glass, tracks, regulator. I also spent all weekend with my neighbors pressure washer. I;d say I washed about 200#'s of dirt off this thing...the inside of the frame was FULL from nose to tail.

Hoping to get the rust taken care of this week so I can paint the rest of the truck...but it is starting to look better now that it is at least clean and some of it painted.
We might get enough money back on our taxes for me to wrap up some of the bigger stuff (tires mainly) so the scramble is still within reach...I hope.

Getting there slowly but surely. Just have to kill the rust along the inside of the rain gutters and a bad spot on each A-pillar then paint the roof and back of the cab. Then the painting etc is done.
Hope to get the tranny in soon then on to the axles.

Anyone know what recovering the bench seat might cost?

Doesn't look like the same truck at all!

And this is just after I finished the paint and (seudo) body work. It's a 50' truck for sure...from 50' it looks good...up close it looks like my 5 year old painted it.

It's about 90* right now. BUT the crappy FL weather is supposed to change again...supposedly we're getting t-storms tomorrow followed by 40* night time temps Monday and Tuesday. I just wish it would get hot and stay hot OR we'd have a real winter for a change.

VERY nice progress......

My first truck was an Orange Dodge with a white roof and Orange running lights on the roof. We called it "The Great Pumpkin."

Lovin' the look....

Just about got the D-60 in. I finished up the discs on it just this morning.
About all that is left on it is to get the front of the truck to ride height so I can set the rear pinion angle (and get the front end done).
I am about 6'3" and the guy welding is the same...I know 38's aren't huge BUT this is going to be pretty big once done!
Mounted spring hangers under the frame and got the wheelsbase down to 113" from 131" stock. Should be able to lop off at least 24" of frame in the rear.
