Does anyone have info on how to troubleshoot and repair a cruise control system? I was driving my 84 waggy down the freeway in New Jersey in the rain when suddenly my cruise kicked off line. It has not worked since. :(

Check to see if the vacuum line at the canister popped off. That hose doesn't fit all that tightly on it and has a tendency of slipping off sometimes. Mine has twice.

Ah, the cruise control curse...

I live in Jersey and mine hasn't worked since I've owned it.

Come to think of it, the fog lights haven't worked too often either.

Neither has the rear window defroster.

Cruise control?

Thats when the little yellow box falls out from under the dash and lands on the hump when you're cruisin' down the road, and you almost loose control. :D

Short list of things that go bad right away. Interior only.

1. Cruise control
2. Rear defroster.
3. Power locks.
4. Dome lights door switches.
5. Shift knob falls off
6. Head liner sag
7. Loose ash tray hinge
9. Windo switches
10. Window regulator flex track

Did I miss any? :D

I have had occasional trouble with the cruise system. It was mostly the relay so I always keep a spare for that. The other problems were the diaphragm, pretty much a standard gm setup and check the switches as well. There will be a small plug right by the column which is your switch cable... hmmmm it seems to me I saw a tech post on troubleshooting the cruise system somewhere, I will have a look for it.

I did see a tech troubleshooting guide on the cruise system. It is in the electrical section of the tech library.

Snakeyes_TX has it right. This happened to me so frequently that I put a hose clamp on there.

Mine won't work unless the stereo is on . . . go figure that one out.

Electrical short, or faulty "Cruise control module" held in by factory duct tape... change the tape and see if that works! :D

Nah, I think short.
