edelbrock just came out with these new shocks called IAS (inertial activation system, i think). they're supposed to be really really good for off and onroad use.
so ralph, are they worth the cost? have ya tried 'em offroad yet? do they increase on road handling abilities? (questions questions questions! tongue.gif smile.gif)
thanks

I'm not into serious off-roading. I take pride in my Grand Wag as a tough, 4-wheel drive station wagon. The handling characteristics of these shocks are phenomenal. It's really difficult to describe.
I have also replaced my leaf springs, replaced all steering components, and replaced the original rubber sway bar bushings with polyurethane. These things combined with the shocks give me a very, very nice ride.

I haven't changed the shocks on my 91 GW yet but I have the Edelbrock IAS shocks on my 95 Impala SS. I put them on over a year ago. I went from DeCarbon shocks to the IAS. The original shock setup on this car was pretty stiff so I only noticed a slight improvement. I don't think that I would get them again (have my eyes on Bilsteins) for the Impala SS. I will be changing the shocks out on the GW before the year is over and I haven't decided on what to get yet. One other thing with the IAS shocks that I want to mention is that allot of Impala owners had a problem with the shocks leaking (I never did). Edelbrock as far as I know replaced all leaking shocks from a large number of owners so their customer service must be pretty good.
