Believe it or not, I think I like the Gremlin best! The original Gremlins were pretty darn ugly. But, the concept drawing in Hot Rod is pretty cool. I would consider carrying one in the back of my Grand Wagoneer in case of a flat tire! Seriously, it would certainly be cooler driving a Focus or a Cobalt.

Gremlins were awesome cars and much cooler than Pacers with their huge windows (no offense Hardcore Pacer)

I personally thought the Pacer looked decent. Did look a lot like a Dodge Caliber. I was more interested in the Matador concept. Might have to lower mine now.

I don't know what AMC forum you visit but I didn't see many people that were as you put it "PO" at Hot Rod. Most comments I saw mention that it's "great exposure for AMC and the AMC hobby". Many others praised the updated concepts and designes of the cars. Others just thought it was a good joke. I personally think Chrysler should pay attention to the updated styling of a couple of those cars since they own the names. And yes, I am (as TPICherokee put it) a "die hard AMC fan", and I like most of the others on the AMC forum can take a joke as well as any die hard Jeep fans.

amccars.net American Motors Forum. Quite a few guys riled up. I personally am not. Loved the concepts. Several of the local AMC guys here in town are peeved. I understand it's an April Fool's joke.
Good grief... if that's the best thing they have to get peeved about, they need a little more life in their lives. ;)

Any exposure helps, quite a few of Hot Rods reader base are not old enough to remember the AMC cars. If a few of them out there get interested it will perpetuate the hobby and maybe save a few cars from the crusher. To this day I am still astounded by what the guys at AMC were able to pull off with no resources. I pretty much don't like any Jeep product that Chrysler had a hand in developing. AMC still rules!
