View Full Version : Do you wear your hub caps in public?

Do you drive around town or wherever with easily stolen things, like hubcaps, on your jeep? Or do you hide them away?

I would hate to find my hubcaps stolen someday, but then again, I don't like going out half dressed either.

Thoughts?

Why have them if you don't use them. Who would want them enough to steal em, anyway.

Didn't get any with my truck, but the wife won't go anywhere without hers.

I proudly rode around with mine 'til I replaced them with Waggy wheels... I say put 'em on and use 'em...

My hubcaps bolt in from the rear, so they're not really easily stolen. ;)

The only wheels with hubcaps are the trailer wheels... And YES they are Jeep hubcaps:D

Use them... I have been known to pull the tailgate off my truck when it is going to be parked for a while. It's in the hallway right now:thumbsup:

I actually just got a new set of center caps at the end of the summer. It only took me 3 years to find a set that I'm happy with. Not to mention all the fancy chrome bits I've collected over the years that'd be easy to yank. Long story short, I drive it in full trim but never leave it unattended in public.

I use them to hold misc nuts and bolts in the shop. You just gave me an idea I want to see if they fit my trailer.

I drive around with a full set of caps. Even have one on my spare, hanging of the side of my truck, it would look silly with no hubcap.

Our horse trailer has Kaiser hubcaps on one side and AMC on the other. We used to run stock caps on 15x8 white spokes on Krista's Wag, but there is a curve between here and Durango where they want to take off over the guard rail. So we rounded up nice spares. After I lost 2, yeah I think I was driving both times :(, we took them off. Krista also crushed one on Steel Bender trail in Moab. We still sport one on the spare inside the back. I say take them off for the trail, show them off around town.

I didn't think people ripped off hubcaps anymore..

I could tape hundred dollar bills to my rig and no one would steal it.;) Run with the hubcaps on.

I would worry if I had twenty-something inch chrome wheels, but nobody pays attention to my 15" saucers. I run them all the time.

I used to think that way until my car got stolen. Tweakers will turn anything of value into a hit of meth if they can. That being said, I am not worried about my center caps as much as the whole truck.

I have a couple of sets of the AMC R/W/B moons, and wear the more-dented ones all the time. Apparently the OEM cut-outs (fronts) are pretty scarce, but I don't worry as long as the truck is sitting in my driveway. Plus my truck is pretty scabby looking up close (usual bed and rocker rust, nicely patched though) so it isn't much of a target.
