I put a vacuum gauge on the vac hose out of the carb and there is none! Does anyone have any Idea why not? So that means there is no vac advance going on with the dist either. Its got my curiousity up. MG
I rebuilt the carb and all new vacuum lines also.

You probably have it hooked up to a ported vacuum source, which draws no vacuum at idle, but begins drawing as you open up the throttle plate. This is the port EGR valves are hooked to, as they'll cause an engine to stall out if they open at idle.
There should be another port for full manifold vacuum. I usually use the port that the air-cleaner vacuum hose is connected to.

Thanks for the info Bob, It doesnt have any of the original stuff that came on it, different air cleaner and all the smog stuff is gone. I'll just have to find another port that has vacuum. Thanks again MG :D :D :D
