That is purty!
Was the Hurricane 6 available in 63? I thought it was replaced by the Tornado 6 in 63. Joe?
I am more curious about the green and white wagon in the background. :fsj:

The Hurricane flat-head was still available right up until they quit making these trucks in '65. The Tornado was an option starting in '62.
I had a '63 truck like this one for a while, and had it parked next to my 4WD '63 J200 in my barn. I used to like to ask people to guess what year each truck was. They'd always guess around '48 for the Willys and early '70's for the J200. Nope - both are '63's...:D

I always thought it was pretty cool Willys kept the old school in production the first 3 years the FSJ was out. I bet it was fun fooling folks with the 2 63s Frank. Thanks for clearing up the engine options. That red & white one sure has lots of chromey stuff. Harlingen is not that far from the coast and a lot of old Willys had rusted out long ago along the Gulf. I always thought a mean clean green and white tutone 65 Overland Wagon would be cool with a FSJ Vigilante stuffed in it. Last year for the body style, 1st year for the engine option.

I wouldn't say that is stupid money, it would cost more to get one to that condition (bid is at $8,011.00).

I bet it takes more than twice that much to take it home.

Love those late Willys, saw a '63 Utility Wagon in WA at a Jeep dealership in the '80s and it still had the plastic on the seats.

Wait and see, I still think it will take stuid money to buy it.
On the other side it certainly took stupid money to build it, looks like they did a very nice job.
My best guess my current project will take a few 100 hours to build
and $10,000+ all to end up with a $5,000 truck, but it will be mine ;)

But is that really stupid? After all, we get enjoyment out of the work and out of the end result, and finally use of it. It keeps me out of the bars, out of jail, so at least the wife knows were I'm at. I'd rather be chasing slow trucks than fast women, but either way I'd still be spending money.

Wow $20,000+ and did not hit reserve
(would likely take that much or more to build your own though, if you farmed out the work)

Does look sharp but for that kind of money I'd expect the "restoration" to be a bit more accurate and better engine detailing.

Says it has a boxed frame, but can anyone tell if its the original willys truck frame or a chevy truck frame?

That was a nice one for sure.
It would take more than 25K to get one in that shape.
Kinda of too much restoration, didn't look like a Willys truck should.
Paint too modern, should of blended to look like origional paint.
check this RED one out....

or this green one with nice origional paint.

You need to check your links Dennis, the green one is the same shade of red as the red one. ;)

Dennis, I think if you got the ebay truck left it out in the desert sun for a while and ran it though some good old Texas dust storms, it could get an acceptable patina :)

sorry about the cut and paste

If the red one looked like this green one, well may have to postphone the the sportside for while longer.
every time i get a new Jeep, the wife has to have something so costs double.
I'm in East TX where we just got Hickory and Pine sap to patina.
The Willys is nice and just not way I would of had painted. Its hard to match the origional laquer paint of the 70s'. Even with paint chips, need a large panel to match. Modern paints are just different.

From what I can see of the frame it looks original - my guess is they boxed the original.
