Crispy, Melted Wiring Harness (Routing?)

Mine's not really quite as bad as the previous post on this subject. Mine just melted on the intake crossover for the choke.

Is this not the original wiring harness routing (on a ~74)... from the firewall, along the valve cover, then down and towards the alternator?

Is it suppose to go past this crossover, or was mine just a bit TOO close smile.gif

It looks like I really lucked out... I could just image my hole engine compartment on fire! :(

That's the original routing, but there are supposed to be clips around the sheathing with little standoffs that attach to brackets that go under the valve-cover bolts. That is supposed to keep the wiring off the manifold.
