This week I decided to get brave and take my wagon on a road trip from my place in central PA to Akron OH, about 400 mi ea way. My boss sent my to a Novar bldg controls class and since they were paying the fuel bill, I left the diesel at home.

I rarely drive this jeep, it spends most of its life in the garage keeping my CJ7 company (which I never drive due to the lack of a good radio)

Mixed driving (country roads, around town, some hwy) 9 to 10 MPG

PA trunpike, (hills mountains) "hammer down" driving 75 and up-- 10 MPG.

Ohio, I 76 (flat) 60 to 65 MPH-- 14 MPG

Wow, what a difference speed makes on fuel consumption. I'm pretty sure this wag has 3.31 gears, so that prob makes it even worse. But then again if I was worried about milage I'd drive some little rice burner.

I have a 1991 that gets 10mpg no matter what I do. Its been tuned up. Is this normal or is the 13-14 where it should be?

I would be glad to help but my gas guage doesn't work. I fill up every monday and I put about 9gals into it just daily driving and the ocasional 4x4ing. Someday I will figure out the miledge by the odometer.

My '79 Cherokee went from Colorado to Virginia
with most of the driving at 75-80 mph. With
the original 3.54 gears, T-18 and a 401 it
ran between 12-13 miles per gallon. The engine
is all stock except for an Edelbrock/Weber
4bbl carb. I believe the mileage would have
been better at around 60 mph but it was a
long trip and I wanted to get home as fast
as I could. Ran great the entire trip. These
things are tanks, heavy and push a lot of air
around. I don't worry a bit about the gas mileage.
