In my newly rebuilt 401 88 Wagoneer that is!
It was a 2000'ish Taho with a 350. We kept neck and neck for a while but I nipped "HER" in the end. Not anything crazy but nice to know that my built up 401 was the correct choice vs. a Chevy 350.

Did you do the rebuild yourself or have a shop do it? I'm looking for someone reasonable close to me...

No, I did not do the rebuild myself. I had the most respected shop in Colorado Springs do the rebuild. PM me and I can give you his name # etc. It did cost me around $3000 to do the rebuild though..however:D :D ;) ;)
I should be pushing close to 350-380 HP and 400 TQ. - I think the price was quite reasonable for the power I've gotten.
I'm running 9.1 CR, ported heads, Edelbrock intake, Edelbrock 600 CFM Carb, K8600 Cam, Edelbrock Shorty Headers, highflow cat, Flowmaster Exhaust, and and HEI system. It is balanced and blueprinted as well.
Obviously you could do this much cheaper, but decking the block for 9.1 CR was $200, and Porting the Heads were $200, this is much cheaper then going with 9.1 CR Pistons + You get more power.

Nice! I had a '99 Tahoe and have driven the early 2000s with the 5.3 motor and they are very quick for their size. I currently have a 2001 Express conversion van with a 350 and moves pretty well. That's impressive to take one down with an FSJ!
