Nope, sure don't...maybe Janie and Bill do...I am sure they will chime in. I can look tomorrow to see if there is anything written somewhere.

When I started looking for a rig, I knew I wanted black wheels...even when I saw this one in pics, I wanted to get black rims...I even went so far as to go to Microsoft Paint and color in the rims to see what they looked like, and I liked it. BUT, now that I see these wheels... They are NICE!!!:D Definitely going to keep them on the rig...and since I won't be going offroad, they will stay looking like new :)

That's all for tonight...I haven't slept since Sunday. Why??? Sunday - spoke with Bill and we agreed on a deal, so very excited ALL night; Monday - sent check to family in TX to give to Bill on Tuesday, so worried about the check and when the transport company would be able to pick up the rig; Tuesday - Transport company to pick up Jeep. Driver was late. Then the rig was on the way, so again...very excited; Wednesday - Jeep on the way, very excited still = no sleep; Thursday - same as Wednesday, with added excited of "she'll be here tomorrow". That brings us to tonight...she's sitting in the garage. How the HECK AM I GOING TO SLEEP??!??!??!

Gonna try though. Good night. More pics tomorrow.

Take your pillow and a blanket and go sleep in the darn thing. That way you can dream about it and wake up to it all at once.

Nice rife:thumbsup:

On a first DATE !!!!!!!

O K I'll admit I slept with everyone of my Jeeps on the first night. Because;
Nearest purchase was 13 hour drive one way.
Furthest was 2700 miles one way.
Longest time was 7 days drive home, breaking down constantly.

Now that's what I call LOVE...
The ride down and back has always been my idea of fun, and with a Jeep it always turns into an adventure!

Good luck with your new rig she sure is pretty.

I can't wait 'till we get out of this apartment and into a house this spring so I can have my own frigging GARAGE!!

My wife has seen the pics of the rig, but I brought it home at 11pm last night, so she was asleep. She was very supportive of my buying it, but wasn't "into" the whole idea like I was. She got up a little earlier than I this morning and went downstairs. She came running back up and said, "That is so FREAKING cool, I never thought we would be so cool!" :D She absolutely LOVES it. She wants to take the baby seat out of our Pacifica and put it in the Jeep.

I had to calm her down...not sure yet, I need to talk to the PO, but the door pins are not working. Not sure if it's the locks, some part of the mechanism, or what. I need to be able to lock the doors and the way it's set up now I cannot. I intend to take the rig to stores, resaurants, etc...but need to be able to lock her up -- I think I will get the Club, and maybe an ignition cut off type alarm...don't need the siren part as no-one ever cares when an alarm goes off.

Those are very good anti-theft ideas.
I like the .50¢ toggle switch under the dash, to cut the ignition power.
I guarantee it will work everytime!

Very true about alarm sirens...no pays them any attention.
Because no one cares when the siren goes off...they've become a noise problem and some places have banned their use.

Gil,

The springs that keep the locks unlocked are weak, and will not reliably keep the doors unlocked when you close the doors. Since I kept the rig in the garage, I wanted to make sure that I didn't accidentally lock the keys inside with the AMC "Auto-Locking-System":banghead:

What I did to bypass this was I unscrewed the knobs that you lift to unlock the doors from the inside, and I added the 1/4" washers so that the lock would not "fall inot the locked position. So all you have to do to be able to lock the doors, is to unscrew the lock knobs, lift them off, then remove the washers and then re-place the knobs by screwing them back on...

Simple enough:thumbsup:

that thing is NICE!!!!!!

do you know the make and model of the rims?

I bough those at Discount Tire about a year ago after i first got the Chero.

They are the Dicount Store brand of MB Motoring.

NOt sure of the model, but Gil has the papers on them in a packet of paper I handed to his wife's Aunt when we exchanged title and funds.

Might see if he has the papers yet or not. If not, you can check on Discounts Website to see if they are still available. When I bought the tires and rims last year, the sales clerk indicated that they were on sale since they were being discontinued...SO I went ahead and bought a 5ht rim, so that in the event of one of the first 4 getting damaged, there would be a matching rim, so that I wouldn't have to go out and buy 4 new rims again(if they were truly discontinued).

I don't know I think he needs to put some padding around that central post. Janie, if you want me to go by and take it away from him until he agrees to treat it right.

Gil, it looks like your wait was well worth it. Congrats.

WhoooHooo! Gil, glad she arrived safe and sound. I'd plum forgot about the "child proof locks", but Bill's already chimed in on that.

Sorry about the slow reply, but we suffered a major computer meltdown here. My employer doesn't know it, but we'll be "borrowing" a hard drive from work.:D :D

Should be back in full operation later today, so holler if you've got any questions.

Glad to hear your wife likes it.

Once a FSJ drops buy the Little household, it gets the shine up treatment right away. That is a beaut! Shimniok has a solution for those special option AMC door locks too. :D

I LOVE it! The red is absolutely fantastic! I really like the wheels a lot! Those are really pretty and compliment it without modernizing it too much if you know what I mean. I agree with your wife- It's so freakin COOL!

MORE DETAILS PLEASE...I WANT THIS FIXED NOW!!! What kind of spring is it and where is it located (i.e. how do I get to it). How do I get shimniok's springs...HELP!!! Is this it and are they still available?> http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showthread.php?t=69619

Bill,
So if I remove the washers, the doors will lock? As long as I have the keys on me (or a spare set in me), I should be good to go until I replace the springs?

Don't worry about the center post...it will be covered. I actually have a part of it covered lower on the post for my other car...learned the hard way on that one.

More pics soon, I promise.

GIL,

it's as simple as that. The springs you need are in fact the same that shimniock is selling. You will need to remove the door panels to get to the lock mechanism so you can change the springs.

Yup...that's them. ONLY $60?? The black steel rims I originally wanted are about $40...these look like much better quality for only $20 more...I may have to buy extra...why? I have no idea...just 'cause they are inexpensive!!

I bought 2 sets of shimniok's springs...just in case I screw them up, break them, drop one down the sewer...until I replace the springs, while I know the locks will lock by themselves, will I still be able to unlock the doors with the key?
