Can anyone help me to figure out what transfercase is in my truck. Its a 73 J 4000. 360 and 400 trans. I want to change the fluid but I dont know what to put back in.I took off the filler nut and there is some crazy smelling black stuff. In my lifes experiences anything that looks and smells that bad cant be good. On the side it is stamped Dana and I think 4. Does that sound right? But there us only one nomber as far as I can see. Does anyone know or can help. Thanks

That there is a Dana 20 Tcase. Got one myself. Black goo isn't good.
