View Full Version : Rear Window Channel Replacement???????
How hard is it? How do I remount the glass into the channel and what should i use to attach it, crazy glue, silicone, J-B weld, epoxy? I already have the access panel off and noticed the channel is rotted which I believe is causing the window to only go down part way.
Not that hard. BJ's off road has the parts and you might as well replace both channels and the lifter bar. I used silicone to attatch my window to the lifter bar, making sure it is nice and level, and it works great. About 1-2 hours and it will teach you how to field strip it in the future when it breaks again..ha. While your in there you may want to dismantle your latch mechanism and lube/inspect/adjust to make that baby work like new also.

If you want to do it "right," get the rubber "cushion" from a dealer or bj's.
Use black rtv adhesive (3M heavy duty weatherstrip adhesive) to glue the rubber cushion to the glass.
Then pound the metal channel onto the rubber with a rubber mallet.
Result is nice if you take your time and follow instructions on the adhesive, clean the glass and metal chanel first, etc.
