Hi Guys,
I totally destroyed my front passenger side axel this morning along with the front driveshaft.

I have a '79 Cherokee Chief with 360, turbo400 and quadratrac. I have a couple of Dana 44 fronts with the axels, but am going to have to find a driveshaft.

Can anyone tell me what years will fit? Passengerside front diff and shaft.

Going to start looking this afternoon. This is my snowplow rig and can't be without it very long. Will have the axel fixed this afternoon, but not much good without the front driveshaft.

Thanks,

John

I know 74-79 with Qtrack will work... I'm sure there are others... but that's a start...

Thanks Dirtball. I know a salvage yard about 45 miles east of here that used to have several chero's. If he hasn't hauled them for scrap with the proce over $200 a ton, chances are he will have one.

Thanks again,

John

The 80-91 front shaft will fit lengthwise, but if you have stock Y pipe on the exhaust, you may have a clearance issue. The QT rigs had smaller diameter tube for clearance. We put a newer style one on Krista's 77 Wag. It has headers and duals, so pipes were not an issue.

Thanks for the info guys. I got the front axel replaced and all is well there. The driveshaft is indeed the 1 1/2" tubing and tore completely in half. If I can't find another in the next day or two, I will re-tube it. Both ends are still good and none of the joints were hurt. So I will get her mobile in a day or two.

Nice to know the emergency lock still works. Drove it up to the garage with just the rear wheels. Might have to put a manual cable on it though. Went right in with the vacumn, but won't come back out.

Again, thanks for the info.
