Hi, guys!
Just wanted to see what's involved in replacing a front bench seat (1980 Cherokee)with bucket seats. I'm thinking of grabbing a couple from the junk-yard. Are all the holes I'll need already factory drilled?? Can I use the middle console?

I've never tried doing it, but I'd be willing to bet the holes will match. Jeep never liked spending extra money on the assembly line. Anywhere they could leave things alone, they would. I would expect that you could take the bucket seat out of a 90 and mount it right into a 65. The more things changed, the more they stayed the same.
I will warn you though, I tried putting a pair of Lincoln mark VII electric seats in a Cherry, and it didn't work very well. One of my more embarrassing moments in automotive redesign.
Nice picture.
As far as I know, the holes are there. I swapped the bench out of my 75 J10 for 80 Wagoneer buckets w/arm rest and it was a bolt in operation.
Should be OK with this. I have a 70 wagoneer and some 74 cherokee buckets to put in and it looks like all the holes are there and in the right places.

KivaKid, I just did exactly what you want to do, I have a 75 Wag, I put the bucket seats out of an 82, the holes are there and threaded, they are in different places because the rails on the buckets bolt up on the hump for the trans. Just take an ice pick and you can find them, they are under the carpet. It is so much nicer with the buckets, the bench seat is like a taxi cab seat.
You can do it, just a bolt in deal.

I have Lincoln Towne Car seats in my Waggy and Taurus power seats in my CJ. In order to use them with a nice installation, you must cut the rivets that hold the Ford floor brackets on and slice off the female seat belt mount. Then you can bolt up either Jeep bucket seat brackets or in the case of the CJ with its flat floor (fiberglass body) 4" "C" channel.
I did this just a little while ago. Complete details at my signature.
