I finally got around to making some mounts for some 6x9s in the front doors of my Cherokee. Then put the 5.25s that were there in the back. And then put a new head unit in. My mounts are far from perfect, but you cant see any of that with the door panel on. I figure as long as it is solid, its good. Here are the pics from the install.

Time to :drivin: :fsj: !

Im not a big fan of the covers. And will probably try to find some generic ones with covers on them. I wasnt really sure what to expect using the baffles. Overall, the sound is pretty good, very clear. But they lack the ooomph that Im used to 6x9s having. I guess it is a small sacrifice to have some protection on the speakers.

And I guess this is what I get for leaving the little guy in the driveway all day.

Got her stuck about 5 min after that picture. I wanted to find the limits and I guess I did. Anything close to a foot, and its time to drive the truck. Good thing my neighbor owns a towing service (you can see is lights in the background). I swear he was just waiting on me to attempt pulling out of my driveway...

And we got another 6" over the night. I dont want to be at work..... (blah...)

I don't think you'll ever get the ooomph from speakers in a door panel that you can when they're mounted solidly to the body.

The door speakers of my Camaro give less than the sail panel speakers in the back seat even though the amp is hitting them harder.

Looks really good.

lol that dynamat prolly cost more than some people's rigs here :P :hide: (including 2 of mine). Nice lil system!

With the way the doors leak, baffles are a good idea. You could make a fiberglass insert box fairly easy too down the road if so inclined, there's a few pages on the web, looks easy if you can handle the 'glass.

Thanks for the comments, guys. My g/f definitely thinks it's too loud. When she says something about it, I just turn it up more and give her my best head bang impression with a smile. The dynamat was $30 a box, and the box was enough to do one door. I still need to get some to finish off the drivers door. I may try to find some bulk rolls on the net for other parts of the truck when I get to them. I also put in some new window wipes in the front doors. No more rattle!

Cool, nice work, the brackets don't have to look nice so long as they do their job. I didn't bother with making new brackets for the front, I was happy with 6 1/2" speakers in the stock brackets. I just redid my speakers with foam baffles (here's my post on it as well (http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showthread.php?p=722588#post722588)), I have the same observations about the bass too, I think the foam baffles absorb some of the lower frequency response, the only solution would be a properly sized hard enclosure, which isn't really practical in the doors.
