When I let it sit overnight or for a few days. I've got to really smack that thang to set the choke. I feels like it is the pedal but lubricant didn't help. I don't mean a little sticky, I mean break the pedal off sticky. Anything on the carb that would cause this? After I jam on it once everything is fine. Suggestions?

On the throttle cable, up where it attached to the carb, there is a plastic shaft that has to slide over another bit of plastic on the cable. At least my '70s era rigs have this. It may be jamming up. Open the hood and operate the throttle by hand with the air cleaner out and the engine off. You'll probably be able to tell if it wants to jam.

I'll try that today. Thanks!

Had a similar problem and it was the throttle cable itself. It may be fraying inside of the the cable housing and hanging up. Happened to me one time on the highway; went to pass someone and when it came time to slow down for traffic in front of me I let off the pedal and the J4000 kept accelerating! Luckily it released when I gave the gas pedal a good stab.

Mine did the same thing while I was out playing in the mud. It was kinda good seeing all the mud flying everywhere but when I tried to stop it scared the heck outta me. I cut a few of the frayed cables off and haven't had a problem since.
