I got tired of not having a blower for the heater in Wally and rigged up some junk to make it work. Then got gas. And some Tequilla. And busted some snow with a 32 year old 401. 10 megs.
It was kinda fun. :fsj:

Nice:thumbsup:! I bet you did want that heater, it was dang cold in Crested Butte last weekend when I was up there skiing, not sure what the temp was where you are though.

The wag sounded mean what muffler are you running on it?

Heh, thank you. Definitely fun. :D
The exhaust system has the original Y pipe and 255K on it. It is really loud in the cab. :p The right exhaust manifold it all blown out in the bottom. This has all gone down over the last year. I have a new set of Hedmann headers and will have a dual 2.25" exhaust system with glass packs by July.

I think you're having a bit too much fun there Flint! Lol, that was loud, very loud. Now I'm tempted to try simply running a straight pipe with no muffler or cat on the GW, might try that this spring before/instead of putting on a turbo muffler and dumping the cat.

How long did it take you to UPLOAD that on dialup???

Pretty funny comment about the ducks at the end! LOL! I always wondered where crop circles came from. I think we all know the answer now.

I was just sitting here wondering if the Tequila was before or afterward? Also, I think that if the exhaust wasn't so loud we would have heard a lot more hootin' and a hollarn'!! :D

Great video! It reminds me of going to the Mall Parking lots' back in Ohio and doing skids all over when it first snowed!

Thanks for the share!

Do you really want to know? :D Ummmm, I had 4 OJ & Tequila drinks waiting for it to get there. :p

The snow had sun on it all day and was pretty wet. It is basically 2 feet of snow that had compressed to about 10-12" with 2-3" ice on the bottom. Plus about 5-6" of fresh snow that fell on it Thursday. The ground has been froze for a while where it does not get sun on it.

My GW is sitting up on the side of the hill where I tried to go back up the way I came down. Gonna need a chain saw to get it out.

Oh, and just one drink was consumed before the adventure. ;) I am not accountable for much after I start the second one. :o Then we split the 750 after I sludged my way back to the house.

OKAY... :D
Ryan came by today and we put his Cherokee to work. His QT works great, but could not get up to the shelf road where I slipped off. He and Chief are in the right track of the 2 track here.

Then we went back with a chain saw for a couple hours and stripped lots of lower branches on 4 juniper/red cedars that were in the way. I dug a bunch of snow out and made some progress down the hill but have a tree in the way of driving down. It is parked. <sigh> It was like working in a 7-11 Slushy drink it was melting so. There was ice on top the dirt, but the snow was slush. The temp was 50 in the shade and we were sweating in the sun dragging limbs down. More pix on where it sits tomorrow. Ryan should have some video to share where he was trying to run Sun Dog up the hill to get on the shelf road beyond Wally... :D

Tell ya what..when Wally gets stuck, he gets stuck :P

Here's a valiant effort by my 79 to get up to where he was coming down..made it, but had to back out before getting stuck myself. Nothing but glare ice under that powder :(

beware: contains high rpms and hooting at the end :P

Here is Ryan's last attempt to get up on the shelf road. When I went up, my mistake was staying on the throttle until I was off in the tree at left. Ice and gravity would not allow for travel to the right.

Got a couple pix this morning. Thanks for helping get it all cleared out Ryan!

Snow was coming. We went to the ag store in Cortez and got hay... and a 3 ton come along w/20' 5/16 cable... and a new 16' 5/16 chain we needed anyway... and ran some other errands. Had to cut wood and unload feed and all. Then went up and got busy with the come along. The chain, come along cable and a doubled 20' strap was enough to anchor to the base of a tree. No pictures of extraction, sorry. It was snowing pretty hard and we were focused on the task. Fell and busted my butt a couple times because of the slope and slush. We got plenty wet. The come along was awesome for sliding the front end over to the right and up the hill a couple feet. Krista and I were both hanging on the handle getting the cable wound on. This movement afforded me the ability to turn hard left and back down between some trees and take the passenger door mirror off along the way :o and dropped the spare tire carrier off the mount underneath and wrapped it around the diff. It's all good though because Wally is back out in front of the house and not in the trees for the 8" of snow we are getting tonight.

This is now added to our trail hardware.

This is the exit view down the hill from where I was stuck. We have had a foot of powder fall in the last 2 days. The trees needed thinning anyways. ;)
