Check your wiring harness where it goes near the exhaust manifold and air injection tubes.
The plastic cover on mine was touching one of the tubes; it melted and burned the insulation off one of the wires.
The wire in question was the resitor wire to the alternator, which would only work intermittently. It was driving me crazy until I ran my hand over over the harness and felt the burned spot on the back.
