why does my stock filter have 3 hoses? I am doing an electric f. pump upgrade to get rid of the long cranking starts in the mornings  I want to put matching filters on either side of the pump, down by the tank, and a plastic see through one in the bay.
What does this extra line do, and how do i accomodate it? I replace the hose once before, and found out that a LOT of fuel travels through it, but away from the carb and into a steel line that goes back to the tank.

Its a return line. Carburetor would flood without that line returning the gas to the tank especially with an electric fuel pump.

And make sure to have the retirn line on the top(12o'clock position). It causes flooding too if you don't(lessen learned for me).

your fuel pump mechanical or electric supplies much more fuel than your jeeps can consume at any certain time(hard to believe). so the extra much return to the tank.

yes keep it in the 12:00 oclock postition.
