I have a chance to score a free D20 transfer case from a scout. It is mounted behind the TF727. Will this bolt up and work behind a TF727 from a grand wag? I know the tranny won't bolt up to the 360 but will the t-case work with the adapter?

You may have to snag the output shaft too, but it sounds like it'll work.

I don't want it for myself. I am grabbing it to see if anyone on the board might be interested. I can gett he whole tranny with the t-case still attached.

If the Scout was a 6 popper the tranny will be a direct bolt in. I do not, however, remember which side the drop is on. Scouts used the AMC 6 cylinder.

Porkchop, It's really funny you posted this, I just scarfed up a D20 off of a 727 out of a scout today. At any rate, from what I've read the D20 is essentially identical to any Jeep application with the exception of the shifter being a single stick. I do believe all of the 727 Wags had the drivers side drop on the driveshaft as opposed to a pass side on the D20 J20

scouts used a passenger side drop.

to use the scout d20 on an amc 727 youll need to disassemble the tranny and swap the outputshaft and adapter, just like you would to put a d20 on a th400.

the scout 727/d20 does use a 23 spline outputshaft, but its different from the one in the amc 727-there are threads at the end to bolt on the input gear.

the scout 20 is pretty much the same as the jeep 20,withthe exception of the shift tower being like a d300,instead of having the goofy pole.currie twin sticks for a d300 will blot right to a scout 20,FYI,but youll need to remove an interlock pill or modify the shift rails to be able to access all possible positions.

definately take it if ya can get it for free,PC!

I am going to get it! I knew that it was a passenger side drop before I even went out there but I figured someone still might want to make the swap, since there are more possiblities with a passenger side diff than a drivers side. When I got out there and looked at it I was wondering if the currie twin stick would work or not. Thanks for the conformation that it will. I am going to go out and grab it on sunday.
