Nah; it's bolted on to the bottom of the steering-column. Two screws, two plugs, and installation is reverse of removal.
OTOH, if you're talking about the key cylinder, then you do have to pull the steering wheel and use a lock-plate compressor, but Autozone will rent you the tools you need for free.

gotta do the whole shebang, the cylinder was no good from the start, but the switch went today, so I may as well do them both. At least no more worries about my GW dissappearing.

Push down on the ring using a hammer handle etc to compress it, then use a small flat tip to get the retaining ring out. When reinstalling crimp the ring back together using pliers, and push it on with the screwdriver working your way around until it sets in the groove. Use the hammer handle etc to keep the plate down as you reinstall the ring.

I got tired of the accuator rod hanging up and twisting inside the colum so I went this route.....30amp toggle to a push button start sw.
I mounted them right under where the headlight and wiper sw are.
Oh yes a anti-theft main power toggle sw mounted somewhere inside the cab.
Total cost $10
