so i was driving to work the other day and felt a vibration. it felt like a low tire or something of that nature well i was onlly about 2 miles from work to i carried on the i hear a loud boom. i put her on the lift and what do i see but a split 229 case staring back at me. so now i am either going to put a tcase in it or sell her off. is there another tcase that can go were the 229 came from that doesnt cost an arm and a leg it seems like the case is fairly uncommon compared to others. by the way this is in an 88 grand wagoneer:banghead:

Post that up in the wanted section here on the board. Thats how i got my NP229 with only 60k on it for 180 bucks. Trust me, there are lots of guys(and gals) on here with spare tcases that they don't really need. Post it up and watch..
oh and WELCOME, DON'T GET RID OF THE FSJ.

my 87 wag has a 228 t-case. it's not the most desirable case, but it's not the viscous type so it doesn't lunch itself either. and it gets me around in the snow.

it is in southern california probablly a bunch to ship it
It's a pretty common case among the later FSJ's. It was in most 83-85's, most 87's and all 88-91's. Lot of them have been removed to swap in a 208 so there should be some 229 take-outs available. Best to try in the Wanted section though.
How'd you break yours? Run it dry?

not sure why it broke im sure it wasnt dry i just did all the fluids in it about 1000 miles ago im thinking that a u joint went bad and caused the vibration that caused the case to crack. so how difficult is it to put a 208 in it whats involved in that. i think at this point im going to park it in the garge and maybe pull everything out and rebuild it so my daughter can drive it in a couple of years.:fsj:
