Any of you guys have problems getting it to shift into 3rd? It doesn't grind but feels like it needs extra pressure to get it into that particular gear. Will changing lubes help? It's got brand new lube right now. Someone mentioned Redline, just wondering if anyone else has this problem.

I just run regular 85w95 weight gear lube with 1 pint of STP oil stabalizer in mine.
As for being tuff to get into 3rd, mine isnt hard at all really, unless I hit the gate wrong. Like trying to push it into 3rd but I am actually between 3rd and reverse, done that a few times. But now I can shift it pretty darned fast.

Maybe I just need to get used to it.

Run 50% Lucas and you will be amazed at the change. I also run that mixture in my diffs and tcase. Some guys report a 50% Redline/Lucas mixture runs very well.
I was sold on Lucas gear lube when I saw how it totally solved the problem of M715 NP200 tcases overheating at highway speeds.

Where do you get Lucas?

Glenn,
Let us know if the Lucas oil product takes
care of the problem. My T18-A in '79 Cherokee
shifts easy in all gears. If the Lucas product
does not take care of it you may want to
have a trans shop look at it in case you
have a worn bearing or sync ring.

Sounds like a worn syncro to me. But the lucas might help a bit.

I changed the oil but haven't tried it out yet. It's probably not that bad, just gonna take some getting used to.
