Any ideas yet? Getting close enough now to plan :D
I was thinking of doing an overnight on that creek ride, forget the name, was it Kane Creek? Whatever one has all the water crossings..Sundog is due for a fluid flush anyways this spring. Figured a late start (due to 4 hour ride from here to get there), day of wheeling, find somewhere in the afternoon to setup camp, cook dinner, and get drunken (obviously on imported to Utah from colorado beer) and sit by the fire. Bringing the girlfriend on this trip, but would love company. Wake up and finish the trail and meet back in town or meet up at next days run. (that's what gas cans are for I guess if no time to make it to gas station). Anyone game?
Sorta figure this would be best to do the first day of the trip, get that icky camping out of the way quicklike :)

Kane Creek camping could be fun. No commitment from Krista & I for camping at this time though.

Sweet! Yeah mine was "I wanna go" and I laughed..shoot I was more scared of those 25' dropoffs at Moab than the 1000' ones in Ouray :D
May be good for last day of the trip too after thinking about it. Good way to skip the weekend (re:triple price) hotel room. Play it by ear I guess. Prolly more weekend traffic though vs. doing it thursday.
bonus: got an ez-locker sitting in the laundry room that will hopefully be in before Moab :D

Hey! Thats cool! Now maybe we can find some fun places to wheel close to home.
I wouldnt mind camping, especially if it is "real" camping. We were planning on camping most of last time but never got a chance. The one time we were in a camp site we got there late and we couldnt set up the tent in the dark, so the air matress was half inflated in the back of the wagg. and all of our "stuff" was in the front seat.
I guess it was better than the night we limped home late on the last run, not even an expensive hotel room was free, so we both slept on the front seat of the wagoneer in the parking lot of a hotel. It was only funny to wake up to one of us bumping the horn the first few times.

YOu have to join that site to see anything, but since it's a Utah site..worth it :)
Kane Creek looks 3-4 hours long..waterfall main obstacle at end. Sounds like a good place to camp near, good run for a late late start day :) Weather permitting of course.
nice links Flint!

Just chatted with my lady friend. Apparently there's one obstacle on Kand Creek you'll need somewhat of a lift for. A stock XJ can do it...With an FSJ tugging apparently.

You'll be amazed at what unlifted FSJs can do there (with a little rocker abuse). It was worth going just to see it in person! Yeah that exit from the creek looks interesting, as well as the cliff one with the 1000' drop off above the creek..eeep.
Should be a nice ride, camping or not, looking forward to it.

I guess, time to put that skid plate now! and replace that rear brake line.... which may involve removing the gas tank... the union is a real pack of rusted threads -yes it is a OE piece-
Real camping is what i do most of the time, find a good location away from the busy areas.
In 06 i camped on the south side of Kane creek.... aka Lockart canyon.

Does anyone want to commit (weather permitting) to a night of camping on Kane Creek trail? Would be good for a last day thing, save that weekend rate at the motel and blow it on liquor and gas instead and a nice campfire steak :D
The gf and I will just bicker and bytch at each other if we don't have company :P

So you want us to protect you? IS it worth a rebuildable 401 with the parts already accumulated for it?

What night are you looking at camping on Kane Creek? We should plan a ride on that trail that day huh?
There was interest to run Hells Revenge again right? The full loop this time? ;)

Yeah I was attempting to do that. I figured Thursday would be the best day for Kanes since-
we'll(and I assume some other people) be showing up later morning
everyone will be milling around etc etc
Kanes isnt that long
can get a dinner to cook that night throw it in the cooler and wheel the trail find a spot to camp cook drink sleep ride out the trail and meet in town next morning.
If the water is running too high or the weather is crappy then Thursday would also be the cheapest day to find other lodgings. Devon is ready to call and get us a room at Bighorn if we can decide on that for Fri/sat night with maybe a hold on it for thursday weather depending.
yeah yeah Hells Revenge Potato Salad Hells Gate lessdoitall :P

I like to watch at Potatoe Salad Hill, not drive. ;) Kind of like watching people get their sign. :p Dump Bump was like that too.
Let's do Kane Creek on Thursday. I want to be in Moab by 8-9AM that morning if I can help it.

we're gana camp weather permitting (or trail permitting depending if we even get to do it if there's high water..and considering how much snow we got..) Thursday night.
Hey that's a nice white wag, sorry we're only missing you by a few days!! Check out the Ouray invasion in July that's close enough for you.
