Ralph I have to thank you greatly for the D18. Even though I was unable to use the 18 as is because of the size of the intermediate shaft, I am able to take the gears, housing and all from it and put it into my D20 case! So I can have the right/right drop with the low gears but still be able to use the D20 adapter. Thank you, you are a great man!

Scotty, all is going well with the swap so far. After I took the D18 intermediate shaft out I noticed that the inside diameter is the same as the one on the D20. I will have to use the needle bearings from the D20 and it will work out great. So the end result will be D18 gears in a D20 case, twin stick shifter, and eventually an overdrive ($1000 for one so that will have to wait). The only thing I am missing is the main drive gear for the D18. I am not sure if this is on the output shaft of the tranny that the 18 came off. I am also going to look to see if the D20 and D18 are the same or not.

Thanks for all the help both of you and I will keep you informed of how it goes. Once again, Ralph, this could not have been possible without your kindness generousity.

pc-glad it is working out.so you did decide to use the 2.46 gears? this is a decision that im sure you will not regret.

the 18 and 20 input gears are different. if you cant find a used one,you could prolly find it at www.4xheaven.com (http://www.4xheaven.com) or at www.quadratec.com (http://www.quadratec.com) .

dont forget to leave the interlock pill out so you can 2wd low range!

also one last word of advice: will you be using the 18s parking brake? if so check out the location of the fill plug on both cases.once you get it tore down, you will defiantely want to drill and tap a hole in the 20 case in the same location as the fill plug on the 18.i put mine back together and found out the hard way that you can not screw the plug in with the e brake stuff attached. right now ive got a rubber plug stuffed in there, but eventually ill pull it back out tear it down and move the fill hole.

Thanks for the info on input gear. The drain holes are in the same spot on the 20 and the 18. The 20 Has the parking brake also. So that is taken care of.

Thanks again.
