Opened up the tailgate today to fix it so the window will go up and down on the 85 waggy. The bottom channel that the window sits in was unclipped from the arms that move up and down pushing it. Since the channel was twisted and messed up I had to unclip the other side also. I straightened out the channel and cannot get the freaking clip back on at all and I am still gonna need something to attach the other side with. Is there some other thing I can use to hold both sides on or am I doomed to use the original clips and where can I get them?

I used a 2" hole saw and cut 2 holes in my tailgate and used a socket to push the clips back on. I know it's not the right way but it worked. As far as getting them I have no idea

WWW, ive done the hole saw routine on all my wags. clips are a dlr item. last ones bought around newyears were 5$ each. ive have made my own retainers out of 3/8 fender washers reamed out to 7/16 and dished with a ball peen hammer. then i used 3/8 e-clips over the washers. set up was a 50 cents each at a hardware store

the channel is about 45$ at the dealer and the clips coast me about 2$ at the dealer.i have big hands and it is hard to get in there i used a prey bar with a large naile pull gap and push them on
if you get the channel you need the rubber pad that goes in it

I recomend teh hole saw technique
try a body shop that you are friendly with, they may have the clips (might be gm window?)
there is a revised version that works, black metal, round, hole in center with a tab that sticks up and over center hole, instead of teh old style.
