Warm running cut off

I have been having a problem with when I run manny errands around town on the weekends after the third or forth time I start the wagon back up I will get about 1/4 mile then the engine starts to lope and then cuts off and will not start for a few hours then miraculously about 3 hour later will start right back up, my neighbors are getting a bit tired of rescue work... any Ideas?

Sounds like the heat is getting to your ignition module located on the driver's side fender... I had the same problem last year... the module for my 78 was only $16...
