Well, things have gotten very slow, asside from the Holidays. The little details are really taking up the fab hours. The body is all welded up finally, except for some under floor tin, and the spare tire mount is finished, after some minor design changes. The gate and hatch are back on and wired up - and it still works! It also closes with plenty of room to the tire. The Lexan for the side windows finally arrived so I can get the body closed in soon. I hope to get it in the body shop in the next couple of weeks, but I'm having to work around my body man's time frame, since he's doing it as a favor! It's funny how while driving it around the yard it seemed to turn a lot sharper! That missing real estate out back sure made a big difference.

Yes, I know!
But it's hard to upload pics when your folder is full, so I had to go back into all my old posts and delete all the pics. So, with that said, hopefully, here are the new pics.

NICE!!! Killer idea on the tire carrier. How far does it stick out under the body? Keep up the good work!

The carrier drops just a few inches below the frame.

nice job!

if you are running out of space to host pics here, sign up for photobucket (its free) and then you'll have pretty much unlimited room and you can just directly link the pictures.

question for you... i notice you are SOA up front and still have the factory shackle setup in the rear. how are you achieving lift in the rear, and why not shackle flip the rear?

Really a nice job. Only downer on the tire carrier is you are now stuck with that tire size forever.

That is awesome, really good looking. Excellent work. Now when people look at it weird, you can tell them it was a prototype for a mid size offroad package Grand Wagoneer that never made it to production

I have a photobucket account under "tinman93" if you want to look at more pics. The tire carrier is big enough for a 37" tire, I try to plan a little for future updates. As far as the suspension goes, the front not only has the shackle reversed, but inverted for the greatest amount of droop. The front and rear have Rough Country 3" leafs with some added factory leaves, leaf blocks and a 2" steel block out back. An under mounted shackle has the benefit of drooping the spring an additional 2" which really helps with articulation. I'll try to post the links to the rear window hatch.

You should do a seperate write up on that rear hatch.
That would be usefull for a LOT of people.

I'm running 34 x 10.50's and love them. Replaced 35/12.50's, which rubbed way to much.

Well I layed down the bondo and primer today. It's looking more like a real FSJ more and more. Tomorrow Justin is going to apply the top coat and next week I can start putting it back together. Once the inside and top is done, I'll be able to get the fuel lines redone and finish the electric. Still having some issues with the final design of the bumper. It'll work it out, hopefully the first time.

I cut the rear fender's both front & back edges. On the front edge I only cut at the roll pan back at 45', and the back cut from the top down to match the front openings angle and 45' back at the bottom. Basically there the same size openings as the front.
