1991 GW production is listed at 1560. So why do the sequence numbers start at 800 for August 1990 build dates and end with 804 in June 1991? Did they just skip a bunch of numbers?
I also noticed in our Tech section that there were possibly Grand Wagoneers built as 1992 models. Does anyone have proof of this or is it rumor? I have read that some may have gone to a foreign government or were used by Chrysler executives. If that were true surely there would be some proof or one would have turned up somewhere. I know that the Grand Wagoneer name was used again on the 1993 Grand Cherekee but I am curious to know if any Full Size models were built after June 1991.

IIRC there were some built that were titled as 92 models and they now live in museums. Not sure about the mixed up numbers. Coulda been one heck of a going out party at the Jeep plant and the folks counting got a little toasted.

There were never any 1992 models. I was seriously in the race to buy the very last one when it went on ebay a few years ago, sold for over 30K. It was built in June of 1991, green in color and had a signed letter of authenticity from Lee Iacocca. It was in the Harrah auto collection until they auctioned it on ebay a few years back. It was indeed the last FSJ produced. Any "Grand Wagoneers" that followed were just gussied up Grand Cherokee's:thumbsup:

30k, or there-abouts, is a bargain for the very last one - if in showroom condition.

Yeah it might have gone into upper 30k area. It was beautiful and showroom-definetaly worth more than that now:banghead:

Thanks for your answers. Sounds like the Jeep plant was the place to work. It would have been neat to be there when they were making FSJs. The last one was quite a bargain at $36,875 with prices of regular GWs now pushing 30k.

The guy at "grandwagoneer.com" is who bought the last GW on ebay. Somebody had posted in a thread recently that he had it for sale for...
are you sitting down?
$165,000.00!!
If I remember, it had just over 5,000 original miles on it, having spent it's entire life in museums.
Somebody here had a data base going of '91 VIN's and was trying t make sense out of them. I've always seen that there were 1560 total '91's built, yet the sequecial serial number for mine is 4035.
