So... first off thanks Pete for setting me up again.
When I first joined I was talking about my rusty roof. Looked like the Titanic up there and I think Tad said his roof was that way as well. I finally sanded the entire thing down, ribs and all and painted as best I could with some rustoleum rust stop. I am pleased that I finally did this. No more rust flakes in my eyes while I drive! You can see in the pics where the ribs were removed. The whole underside of the roof looked like that...

The first is me loosening rusty bolts and the second is my roomate Rob cutting the heads off the two rear bolts becuase the welds on the frame broke. All the pucks are in now and I have to finish up lengthening the 4 low lever, move or maybe cut the fan shroud, and two lines that come off of the radiator that are in the way of the fan need to be lengthened and redirected downward with a 90 degree fitting.

About how long did it take you to sand to roof? I am thinking about doing it.

Probably 10 hours of actual sanding. I tried to be thorough.

That's bordering on OBSESSIVE!!! :D
But it looks very nice.
If you still have spaces between the braces and the roof, put some sheets of rubber between them. It'll reduce noise from rattles and vibrations and prevent the paint from rubbing off.

I figured that I'd give more detail to the body lift and where I'm at with that...
It's been a couple days since i've been in the garage and I've run into a couple problems of course. The two front mount bushings are squashed and have made it impossible for me to torque down the bolts all the way inside the frame becuase once tightened, I can't get the wrench out...
I was thinking of using the 4.5" bolts that I have instead of the 5.5" so I'll see if that works.
I didnt have to lengthen the tranny stick or whatever its called.
I do have to lengthen the 4 low shifter and my roomate lacks good welding skills as we found out a few days ago, so i will be taking it into a friends muffler shop hopefully for a case of beer.
The fan hits the shroud and I will most likely cut a little off the sides for clearance.
The two tubes comming off the radiator are also hitting the fan blade... What are they even for?
*I thought the best way would be to buy 90 degree fittings so the hose goes downward away from the fan and then lengthen the hoses. Has anyone done this before?

Try lowering the fan shroud and radiator before cutting it. There are different sets of holes in the radiator support.

Yes, it should drop right down
Worse case scenerio is drill new holes that are lower (might need a right angle drill to fit in there).
You are going to want the rad and fan centered up as close as possible anyway.
Looks good, love the roof work.

It looks like I'd have to drill and i'm not sure it will fit in there, but i'll give it a shot. Its probably easier just to move it down than cut it.

I'm going to continue the body lift stuff in the Offroad Tech forum under 2" body lift installed; radiator questions (http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showthread.php?t=79933) ... if some of you are following.

Really nice work!
Does the underside of my Waggy's roof look like the before shots...? :omfg:
Unfortunately I don't live in NV, but in mega-frigid-and-snowbound western MA. So I am NV-ous of you having decent "wrenching weather" to do your thing. Someday I hope to pour a concrete floor in my barn, and then watch me make [stuff] happen after that.... :D

I hope your roof doesnt look like mine did! I'm lucky to have my dad's garage, but it still gets pretty cold in there even with the propane heater. It's been about 30 or less degrees here in NV after 5. A couple nights its been in the teens!
