Well this could be it for Granny. Big snowstorm in the Northeast and I couldn't take her out b/c wipers still out. Wife is hinting Granny has to go.

I took out radio and can see where drive arm has come lose from the cross bar that connects the two wipers. Removed snap nut and disconnected arm from motor (thanks for that one Mike). It looks like the arm is simply connected to the cross bar by pressure. There is only a little lip to put through the hole. Even if I removed the entire dash (which I'm still trying to figure out), it seems only the elves could reach in and do that. You guys have any suggestions? If not, looks like I'm looking for a good home for my girl. Thanks.

Funny, I use to live in Danbury Connecticut...where my little sister was born....such a cute little town! Anywho, you said that you disconnected the 4" long arm that attaches to the rear of the motor, right? From there, you have an arm about 2' in length that goes up at an angle to the final bar up at the top. The top bar connects both wiper extensions together. Which part is messed up? I just took my entire assembly out of my 85' and sold it, so I might be able to help walk you through it.

btw, don't suppose you know the Szareks or the Sandones?

The 4" bar connects the wipers (it slides back and forth when you move wipers).

The bar directly from the motor (2" that cuts at a slight rt angle) came loose from the 4" bar. At the passenger wiper end of the 2" bar there is a 2' stem, with a felt washer on one side and a bearing type washer on the other, which is held in place by a four point clip. This assembly looks exactly like the one on the end of the 4" bar connected to the passenger wiper. There is a hole in the 4" bar about 4 inches from the end. I assume the stem goes in that hole. I couldn't find a snap ring. It looks like the things just snap together. Am I missing a piece? There isn't a parts list or diagram in the Chilton's I have.

Can I take the glove box out w/o removing the speedometer etc? It all seems to be connected.

We just moved to Danbury from NC. Wife asked if I fixed it yet. Told her I'm working on it :)

There should be (to my recollection) a small clip that you are missing. Do a little searching around the floor area.....
