View Full Version : Electrical Gurus... Quick Wiring Questions

I'm currently starting the rewire of my beast with a new aftermarket wiring harness. It's all pretty straight forward, but a couple quick questions.

There was a great post on Grounding needed with sizes of wires and everything. Can anyone give me a heads up on how many, where, and what size I'll need (or just a link to that post I can't find)?

Also, in the future I may need an electric fan and I may want to run two offroad lights behind the razor grill. What size fused circuit would I need for each of those (I have multiple accessory circuits available, different amps).

Thanks in advance, Happy Holidays everybody!

Todd a 20 amp for the off road lights and fan would work well, if you use it to energize relays instead of going straight to the lights/fans. Get a couple of relay kits (Baja lighting at AutoShack I think) and make a small bracket to mount the relays to the fenderwell.

And while your there get some grounding straps...one from the motor to the frame and one from the motor to the body. If you decide to make them, good 10ga wire will work fine.

As a quick side note, I used old battery cable to make a strap from the motor mount to the frame rail but it is really overkill.

Yes, He just cut/unbolted the terminal off one end, then cut to and crimped one of these on.

Simple and cheap (if you've got old battery cables sitting around)

I think Mark was pointing out the "overkill" comment...and this is from a man from Normal OK talking to a Plum Crazy person

You are correct, sir. I do not much believe in overkill...especially where electron flow is concerned.
