I have a 88 Grand Wagoneer, How do you remove the radio? I don't want to pry the plastic off and I can't see any screws to remove the plastic around the radio. Also any suggestions or where to mount a cd changer.
Thanks Norm

The black trim panel that surrounds the radio, heater-controls and gauges is attached with push-in clips. If you pry around the perimeter, you'll be able to tell where they are, as the plastic won't "give" in those spots. Trick is to locate where they are and simultaneously pry on either-side of the clip. It does take some effort, but they usually don't break.
Once it's off, you'll see that the radio is held in by two philips-head screws. Unscrew them, and the radio-chassis will slide right out. It has a couple brackets bolted to it, but the case is a standard DIN size, and you can usually transfer the brackets to any aftermarket case.
I did that with my Jensen stereo, and got an adapter-plug from Circuit City that plugged right into the stock harness. I just soldered the wires from the Jensen to the appropriate ones on the adapter, and it was a plug-n-play. It was so clean, that the first time my radio was stolen, they didn't even have to break or cut anything, and they even left the stock attaching screws in the glovebox! smile.gif

The plastic has clips on the back of it. Just open the glove box and gently pry on the bottom of the plastic face. It should pop loose fairly easily. As for a CD changer, get rid of the useless center seat in front, install a good center console, and put the changer in it. Good luck.
