When I swapped my Q/T case yesterday, I had to hack out a section of my dual exhaust right behind the H pipe. I guess the PO or the exhaust guy never planned on having to remove the case.. The other option was to drop the entire exhaust system.. Not a chance I was gonna do that..
Now, I am running 1 open header, and 1 half open (flow through the H pipe). I was on the phone with my wife today when I cranked it up.. It was REAL loud, so I had to trottle it a bit (of course), so she could hear the rumble.. :D
Anyway, her exact words.. "What was that?? It sounds like a dinosaur roaring.."
My response.. "It is"...
Here is what my dual exhast looks like now..

Gotta sound nasty. :D
Fun for a while, but.....
In driving something like that on the highway one runs the risk of having that pounding exhaust sound resonating in one's head, eventually turning brains into Jell-O. :D

not to mention what a cop'd charge you for the priviledge. especially when you had a full muff headset on so you could hear your radio so you didn't hear his siren wailing up behind you:mad:

Reminds me of the trip from here to the exhaust shop (about 8 miles) after I cut my exhaust out to clear my front driveshaft. It was kinda cool for a couple of miles, then the smell and the sound were overwhelming. I was more than glad to get it fixed.

when I picked up the gw I had to sabresaw the rusted out old exhaust off ---just ahead of the cat for various reasons--- and drive it about 10 miles over some TN hills and valleys to the muffler shop to have a new system put on. the very next day 2 dental fillings fell out---seriously, of course a badly popped bag of microwave popcorn had nothng to do with it:rolleyes:

Thats what I was thinking... My ultimate plan though, is to remove the stock coffin tank and run ony the aux tank. I will have to exhaust fixed properly after that..

That's what I'd do till you get ready for a whole new exhaust. There's some pretty trick flexpipe avail now.

Flex pipe is for only a very short fix though in my experiance with it, it has rusted out in about a month due to the condensation in the exhaust. But if only to keep the law at bay for awhile it will work. (Darn The Man always trying to keep us down.)

You can have the shop put in some flanges and that way you can unbolt that section of pipe whenver you need to. I did that with my M715 because you'd have to remove the Y pipe to get to the tranny pan. (custom Y pipe)

Down here there are a lot of people who run without mufflers. Dumped headers, stacks, etc. I run longtubes into flex into stacks on my trucks. Sounds good and it's easier to work on

I shouldnt need too..
Once I pull the coffin tank, I will have all kinds of room to route the exhaust out of the way..
Well, now that I thing abou it, if I add flanges right before the muffler on each side, I will be able to unbolt the long sections for easy access when I build my sliders..
Hmmm.. Definatly something to consider!!
