The rear window in our '88 is cocked to the pass. side. It is lowwer on that side. I can't move it with my hands. The motor makes a sound like it is trying to move it but it will not budge!
My '87 GWhas a opean recall on the rear window switch but the stealership does not have the part and does not know if they CAN get it?

Most likely the metal piece that holds the window has rotted out. When I raise my window it goes up a little cockeyed then I have to go around back even it out then raise it a little more etc etc. If you put down the gate and remove the the cover you can look in with a flashlight and see if it is that. You can get them from BJ's off road anoithe member. I think there like 50 bucks. Check out his site http://www.bjsoffroad.com/bj2.html
I've got the same problem, which fortunately or unfortunately I also have experience. The back window start doing these tricks right after getting the truck. Found the window has come out of the track that holds it. It was still cock-eyed after putting the window back in the track.Looked like the window being off track must have caused the gears that move it to skip a couple of teeth. There's a flat bar that goes across the gear assembly that appears to help keep them aligned. Mine was bent, so a couple of caresses from the hammer and it wasn't bent anymore. The realigned the gears, not a pleasant job. From what I hear, the springs attached to the gears are very capable of taking off a finger if they slip loose.
Not looking forward to having to repeat this repair.
Good Luck
