Mike built it for his J10 before he sold the truck. Since I am after a rebuild for a 81 727 lock up tranny, I thought it would be good to hang this while I am at it. Then I'll end up with a spare for Wally. The one I have works fine, but I figure this was a pretty good way to get one with a new chain, bearings and seals. I am glad we are doing Moab 2nd weekend in April so I can giterdun.

y'know,if you didn't live on the dark side of the moon, where none of my trucks go,i could take that 727 from you, give it a proper rebuild, and send it back to you.

Silly dang moon. It would be dark on one side... :grumble:

Ya...It was blue when I bought the truck. I didn't paint it.
Flint...I forgot to tell you that one of the wafer seals on either the fill plug or the drain plug is broken in half. Meaning, there's only half of a wafer. I think I moved it from the drain plug to the fill plug. It was leaking fluid when it was on the drain plug.

Thanks Mike. I saw that. It is on the fill plug. Can take care of that over the winter too. Whadahey, I like the blue too since my Jeep is Wally the Blue Moose. :fsj:

Good score on that TC!
Kinda worries me how much discussion there is about replacing transfer cases on thes SJs. Am I gonna have trouble with mine some day....? Should I perhaps start beating the bushes for spares...? Knock on my noggin but the one in my old Waggy here has been working without complaint, but....

YOU don't have a spare YET? :D One of the things I made sure to get off the 69 before it was crushed was the D20 so we have a spare for the Camper Special. Like I said, my 208 works fine and has not let me down yet. I am a bit hard on it when it comes to Moab fun. My 229 let me down in Moab but it was just tired and had about 230k miles on it.

Ralph has been keeping an eye out for one to put in his 88. Affordable ones are pretty rare in the Phoenix area for some reason.

Actually it's because I've always been told that my head is as hard as hickory that I worded it that way.... :D

Cool score! Those 208's are incredibly simple to disassemble & rebuild, even for a beginner. Looking at it makes me think something along the lines of "Blue Devils"

If a couple of those "spare" 208's make it to Ouray this summer, Ralph and I would both be more than happy to get them back to AZ... seein as how he's my brother-in-law and all

Not likely. You have a D20 case made of steel and gears. No chains or aluminum parts. ;)
WaveHunter, that's the best Chiltons for an FSJ, period. Great score!
