rear window in 88 grand wagon

I want to tint my windows in my 1988 grand wagon.
On the inside of the rear window, about in the middle,where the latch opens the rear gate there is a scratch that goes from top to bottom.I want to make sure that it has been repaired.How can I find out if this an old scratch or new?
If it is scratching now, how can I repair it?
Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you fix it?

The scratch could have been caused by the window wiper moulding.

Check that out first.

It is getting scratched by the latch bar inside the tailgate. There was a protective wrap around the bar (near the center) to keep the window from being scratched. Sometimes this rots off or gets full of dirt and either will leave a streak on the window.

It's probably the weatherstripping that Wingo mentioned. I have a new one that I can't return if anyone is interested.
