I was reading about t-cases and xfer cases when I read the following paragraph... (especially the last 2 sentances)

Compatibility
The TH400 is most common in Chevy trucks and some GM cars. However the transmission was also sold to other car companies, including AMC Jeep. The first TH400's found in Jeeps had a factory adapter plate, while later AMC versions had a dedicated AMC style case. Internally, the transmission is the same and all parts are generally interchangeable. It is of interest that the AMC case, while more or less similar from the collar of the case, back, is tilted about four degrees. This was presumably for transfer case clearance purposes.

is this common knowledge? Just thought I'd pass it on. Novaks page is really good.

heres the page it was on

You will find the adapter style trans setup from about 65=73 with three versions. Rambler 327 cu in. 350 buick, and 360 amc. The clocked cases were from 73-79. J20

Rigs with the Nailhead TH400 can be easily adapted to AMC 327, or the standard AMC bolt patern as well as the BOP patern. Letting you swap in anything from the AMC motors to Cadillac, Buick, Olds and Pontiac motors
