Many thanks to Mikel2, Snakeyes_TX, Bnjnz, reddog, David Simon, Matt W, andy d, irbob, jeepbob, and jeep360.
I believe that the problem I was having was really the choke pull off. I must have broken off the vacum nipple when I was routing wires. My new choke pull off arrived today and I will put it on this weekend to have a definitive answer. The reason I believe it is the problems is that I took irbob's advice and let it warm up and held back the choke manually. When I did this I was able to pull the throttle cable back to almost full throttle and the engine sounded pretty good. I have probably thrown off the timing a little playing with it but I was reasureed that I was able to throtle up with out stumble or backfire. We will see this weekend and I will update everyone then. Thanks again to everyone for all the good advice.
