Was thumbing through the latest ish of OlSkoolRodz and noticed an article on replacing road draft vents with PCV valves..which made me realize what a certain diagram I had been looking at on the 327 was all about with a tube going to a plate on the bottom of a 2bb 327 carb from under the carb base into the valley pan.

Now..if you go and do a 4bb intake swap, what happens? If not using a stock 4bb carb for that application, no crankcase venting?

for the record I have a Holley 700 4160 double pumper going in it.

Almost missed this important thread.

I'd like to see diagram you have, I still haven't received my TSM and 327 Supplement books.

anyway, I got this carb spacer:

My 66 Ch*vy pu w/SBC 327 has a rochester 4bbl with a road draft tube & I've seen the guys on the Ch*vy forum talk about putting a pcv valve in the valve cover. Drill a hole & get a grommet I guess?

yeah I gotta dig out that TSM today :)

YUP! more or less exactly what the very nice article in Ol Skool Rodz did.

From what I remember in the TSM (really I'll dig it out) there's a plate on the bottom of the 2BB that runs a line down under the valley plan to the inner rear of the block. That being the vent.

They talk about replacing the road draft tube, because basically it only works when moving. Sitting at a stop or going slow you're getting blowby like no tomorrow.

woot! dangit, that's what I need I think. Not sure which, but that's what's needed for the vent I betcha.

I had no clue till read the article it all kinda went click-thunk-oh crap in my head :)

AMC 327 under vintage parts & assc.

I got the subscription Ol Skool Rodz starting with the Jan.

I've heard rumor that there was a tri-power for this motor! :omfg:

As well as adapting a 304-401 intake, which would of course lead to modern MPFI.

I'm gonnna eventually something hard:banghead:

I dunno about tri power but there was an American built one time by a Rambler dealer with 418 cubes in a 327 and had 4 2bbl carbs!

That adapter Dennis picked up looks like the ticket to me...
Wait a sec, isn't there a port on the back of that Holley 4bbl you can use Ryan?

Are you talking about the air cleaner sticker that says Tri-Power? I forget what that was alll about but it was not about 3 carburators... I think that means it will run on 3 cylinders if you have too... :p

There was an experimental 3 carb intake for the 6 cylinder back in the late 50s that I am pretty sure never made production...
Guess some did get on the street though...

most of the Jeeps out there only run on three or less....ha..
thought that was a given.

3 2bl's. even a special air cleaner from AMC.

Probably rarer than gunsights on a Super.

why as a matter of fact, there is. Well there's a direct port that goes into a channel that opens into the rear butterfly plate area onthe bottom of the carb. Soo..that'd work for the crankcase venting? Thought that was a vac port for something else..I duuno maaan! :o

Rambler advertised Tri Poised Power, that's what it was...

Hey, it is like 1/4" or 5/16" diameter right? If so, that is for PVC.

Flint, you got the info.
And sounds like a good Jeepstress wife & cook.
My goal on this Glad to have it mechanically ready for Ouray in July.
Can't wait to meet you and everyone else..

Tri-power, maybe there were a few for the Vigalantee that made it to street. Prob. super duper impossible rare, already on a Rambler got to buy the whole 50K car to get.

I've been leaning towards,( but not technically old school built, but I'm gonna drive it) adapting the 304-401 intake so could run the edelbrock MPFI. I like the dependability of my Scrambler and not smellin raw high $ gas inside. (What a wuss I've become).
Then somethin says too many dm wire to hide, get a 4bl intake and tuff it.

So I dunno.....

UP'S man just walked in with the changeover kit for AC,PS, condensor etc.... got some work for the holidays!

I'm working a guy for some info, maybe a manifold on this.;) Maybe it's a myth, but if they put 'em on the '59 Rambler 6cyl I don't think it's impossible.

Of course a tri-power intake would change everything about MPFI and 4 bl in trash.

Tri-Poised Power is referring to the motor mounts, two in front one at the rear trany mount. Of course thats what everbody has anyhow, wasn't exactly unique.

I dunno know about that check out Flint's air cleaner pic.

Boy it would turn the Rambler's over in grave if they knew a Jeep truck got one of their race Tri-manifolds.

Heck this Glad is about to put me in grave, too much to learn about FSJ.
CJ's nothin to em.
