Hi all,
I'm doing some maintenance and need some advice. This is on my 79 Cher w/t 360/2bbl/QT/AT.

1) Carb rebuild. Was going to follow recommendation I got to buy kit from NAPA. Website shows it's about $25 for a kit. Anyone know for sure what parts that does/does not include?
Do I need the $13 carb to insulator gasket?
How about the $3 insulator to manifold gasket?
A float? Brass or plastic?
Any thing else to order at thesame time?

2) Fuel tank bits/pieces. Just had the tank cleaned and lined ($145, ouch!). Now the sending unit and pick up tube look real shabby compared to nice tank. smile.gif
My "sock" fell apart on me. What's a source for these? I remember seeing them around someplace.
Can I get a whole new pickup thing? Mine has deteriorated around the tubes that penetrate the lid. How about JB weld or something around those?
My sending unit doesn't look too good either. Not sure I want to spend the bucks on a new one. Might be better to just knock a little rust off it and reuse. Any advice on refurbishing the thing? It worked before I took it out. Now it looks a bit rusty/crappy. I was thinking of sand blasting it and then I can't decide if I should treat it with phospheric acid or what. Don't want to contaminate the fuel, but don't want it to rerust either.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

For the rebuild kit it will come with all seals and o-rings, new needle, but wont come with a float unless you get the kit that comes with one (regular one doesnt normally). As for the insulator your old one should be fine...dont see why you would need a new one unless yours is damaged in some way.

You can get a new pickup..several people here have...I am sure they will chime in with onfo on that.
