can the stock ignition control be removed and if so what do you do with the wiring plugs. from what I can see nothing is really used from this are in the upf grade. Is all this bypassed? Oh yeah I am also doing the MSD 6a at the same time . SO I guess that is what my ? is really about. Any experts online?

The TFI won't let you eliminate the control box, which converts the ignition pulse from the magnetic pickup in the distributor to trigger the coil.
OTOH, if you buy the Duraspark adapter, the MSD6A box will let you bypass the stock ignition box (but not if you hook it up with the TFI harness, where the MSD box would only trigger the coil when it was triggered by the stock spark box).

Different question same topc. I bought Taylor wires and an accel coil because I didn't want to dink around with the bracket. Which terminals do I put on my wires it came with "copper" and "silver" colored ones??

Thx So basically it is just a matter of picking up the trigger directly from the distributor from whatI can see. For anyone who it interested there is a pretty clear diagram on the MSD page www.msdignitions.com (http://www.msdignitions.com) go to intructions download and chose your application ( Ford ignitions Wiring a duraSpark using magnetic pickup Trigger) When I get this all right I will write a Tech Page on it pit p/n and any other specs I used.

Antelope I used the Accel coil(but leave some wire on your coil plug just in case). On my '88 the yellow wires are coil + and the green wire is coil - .(Also the positive side will have 2 wires , the other going to the small can on the side of the coil bracket, this is a filter for electrical)

Antelope, I believe the terminals you are talking about are the ones for the different type distributer caps. 1 set of ends are for spark plug type connections and will clip over the top of it and kinda snap in place, the other kind is for the type where the wire goes in the hole. I got a universal Taylor kit also. I think I had about 75% of the wire left over.

I can't copy it to here, but there is a
" Wiring a Ford With TFI without using a Harness" Diagram on MSD's site.
I'll try to scan it and post the picture later. It basically shows:
Heavy Red - To Battery +
Heavy Black - To Battery -
Magnetic Pickup - Not used( next to tach output)
Red- to Red & light Green wire( + connection on your old TFI connector)
White - to dark green & yellow connector (- on your old TFI connector)
Orange - to + on the TFI coil
Black - to - on TFI coil
Seems pretty simple, even I could do it without burning the truck down ( yes, I rewired the '88 in an AutoZone parking lot 500 miles from home one night. And it was my fault)
