What is the difference in the master break and the master clutch in rigs that are older than the dual breakline set ups....

My 64 has master cylenders that look the same to me.... but the rebuild kits are 15$$ different in price....

Any one know if they are actually different inside in partz..... or is their a rip off going on... just because its called a clutch

Im going to put a chevy booster on too..... it'll fit it looks like... so what the heck.

I think the bore and stroke are different, between the Master Cyl. and the Clutch Cyl. The Brake Master Cyl. is the same as the ones used on GM.

Hmmm...good question Mike, wish I could help. :(
The bore is the same for both master cyl's but the TSM doesn't give the stroke for the brake cyl just the clutch. According to Kaiser's parts manual the p/n's for the guts and the housings are different between the clutch and brake masters but what (if any) the differences are I don't know unless it's the length of the plunger but that's just a guess...

ok... iv got the info now... have the partz in hand

The break master rebuild kit has all the partz needed for the clutch.....minus a 6 sidded check valve and a gromet that are at the hydro-line end.

Basically they are the same.... in the clutch rebuild...just throw away the check valve and the gromet... assemble as it was in dissambly.

And the break master kit was 5$ cheaper... and way easyer to get... been waiting over one week now for the clutch master kit.

how about putting this ionfo in the archives....if it wasent already- late 60's(at least 1960-64 im sure of) master clutchand break are the same....just get the master break kit, and throw away the gromet and check valve for the clutch master!!!!!

Wish i knew that before........

I got a clutch master cyl kit from Napa the next day. Actually they had the kit in stock but I had to wait a day to get a new slave cyl. It's Napa United Brake Parts, kit# 434. I don't remember what I paid for it though and I never compared it to the brake master cyl kit either.
