View Full Version : Found a new use for pitman arm puller!

Well, today I had to pull a front spring off to take to the spring shop. All went well on all the nuts and bolts, as they were sprayed with Blaster for the past week. Had 'em of in 10 minutes or less, but as you know, these older rigs have the spindles off the side of the frame for the rear spring mount. The spring just would not come off, even with a lot of "persuasion". So..I am at my wits end, when I had an idea. "Let's try the pitman arm puller". So I took the grease zerk out of the end of the spindle, and that made a perfect centering hole for the puller, a little tightening with the impact wrench and whammo....it slid right of after that!
Something to keep in mind for all of you with pre '74 rigs that want to change out your springs.
