It's my first winter with the Wagoneer and I'll be doing a lot of skiing/bnoarding. Does anyone have any input on a good ski rack for a Wagoneer??

I don't know anything about ski racks but you will truely be amazed where your FSJ will take you in the snow. This is my second winter with mine and it still blows me away, we had some days last week with 18 to 24 inches of snow on the roads before they got the snow plows out and it would go through it like it was on dry pavement (well close).I'm sure you will be going up toward Tahoe, the way it snows over Donner pass, you will just love it.

hey Antelope, I have some input onthe subject since I mtn bike and am always looking for ways to haul my bikes around...first, do you have a fact. roof rack? if not, you can get yakima's 1A raingutters, if you do have a fact roof rack and want to keep it, get the 1A hi-rise raingutters, this will clear the fact rack.

these are super strong racks that can be built up with all types of accesories, and are very theft proof. (they clamp onto your raingutters) all pieces lock on to the Jeep.

the only downfall is the price. you're looking at $120 for the towers, aka raingutters, add $30 for crossbars(2), and $110 or so for the ski/board holders.

I usually like building everything to make it custom (i have a homemade bike rack inside), but the roof racks that yakima makes are hard to duplicate for all the positive features and adaptability they offer.

hth!

I found the Wagoneer too much of a reach for a ski rack on top. Search " hitch ski rack " on any search engine and youll find several hitch type ski racks that work great. that is if you have a hitch??

Give up the skiing, stick to boarding, and just chuck it all in the back.... :D

i can take myself and 3 friends, 4 snowboards and gear, inside my wag..... no cost, no installation, albeit, not much rooms for extra's, but heck, who needs extras..

Yeah, I just built a bike rack on the inside. I got rid of the back seat and used some very rudimentary items from a local hardware store and a leftover bike tray from a previous rack all that cost a total of $25 and I have a very sturdy rack. It looks cool too and its something different that you cant do in many vehicles. It would be a pain to reach to the roof to undo bindings plus the money. All you need is to build the two cross members and bolt them to the floor then if you want buy the ski trays.
You can always put the seat back in.

Just an option. I will post pics of my interior rack soon or sooner if you want to see them.
Good Luck.
