tailgate lock

I just converted over to a manual tailgate and everything works fine but the lock...key turns but no matter where the key is set the crank wont lock up.
Any ideas?Will go to a locksmith later this morning and see but hoping there is a simple solution.

Well it has fixed itself...I have no idea what I did but it locks now.If only everything fixed itsef this easily

I hear you...I have a long list of FSJ things I wish would fix themselves! I've got a manual tailgate on my Chero that is finally arriving in IN next week. I've had so many problems with my electric window in my 88 GW, I think I'll be happy to have a manual window.

Hi Joshua,
You'll love the manual window.A couple tips, In the technical library in the body section there is an article on how to do the conversion, identify and lable the defroster wires and the rear licence plate lights,there are threaded spacers for the electric tailgate that aren't neccery for the manual so you'll need shorter bolts.I uses 1/4-20 hex head 3/4"long.While your there check the bottom of the door and make sure the drain holes aren't clogged.
